According to Ward, "The History of the Town of Shrewsbury", Abigail Reed was from Worcester, Mass. The Worcester death record for Abigail Reed (Worcester Vital Records to 1850) refers to her as Widow Abigail Wheelock, 78, daughter of Ebenezer Reed of Milford. The Worcester death record for Abigail in the Mass Archives (21:183) gives a death date of 20 Mar 1845. This is probably the Abigail Wheelock, 1767-1846, buried in Section 14, Rural Cemetery, Worcester, MA, next to Mary C. Wheelock, 1800-1860.

In 1870 he is in Chicopee, MA, age 67, born MA, with Mary, age 64, born MA, and Ellen, age 24, born MA.
In 1880 he is a widower, living in the household of his daughter, Mary Morton in South Hadley, MA. His birthplace is given as VT, and his middle initial is given as L.
His wife, Mary, must have died between 1870 and 1880. A Mary S. (Bliss) Wheelock died in South Hadley, 10 Aug 1876, age 74y, 14d, married, daughter of Ithamar and Mary, born in Wilbraham.
