This is, no doubt, the James Wheelock buried in Purmort Cemetery, De Peyster, NY. The headstone reads as follows: James Whelock, died May 29, 1855, Aged 79 yrs. Buried adjacent is his wife: wife of James Wheelock, d. Sept 11, 1849; aged 69 yrs. Around 1814 James Wheelock moved from Marlborough, NH, to Pittsford, Rutland County, VT. In 1836, he removed to De Peyster, NY, with his wife, and three youngest children.
