|_Hepsibeth MITCHELL _|
(1796 - ....) m 1817|
|_____________________
Uriah is presumed to be the son of Levi Wheelock and Hepsibeth Mitchell based on Fairfield, Franklin Co, VT land records, which invlove sales of land between Uriah, Alden, Levi, Hepsibeth, and Addison. Fairfield, Franklin Co, VT land records, Vol 14 1851-1855, pg 32 indicate that Jonathan Sherwood sold lands to Uriah and Alden D. Wheelock prior to 1851. Uriah relinquished his share to Alden, who then sold it to Thomas Hooker on 22 Apr 1851. This land exchanged hands again, and on 27 May 1852, Alden D., Levi, and Hepsibeth sold this land, included Uriah's share, to Addison Wheelock (Pg 149).
Other evidence that Uriah is the son of Levi and Hepsibeth is more circumstantial. The 1870 Census indicates that Uriah was born in Vermont, about 1823. Furthermore, the 1830 and 1840 census records for Levi and Hepsi both show an otherwise unaccounted for male child of Uriah's age in the household.
