Lois Sheppard's headstone in the Coventry Village Cemetery reads as follows: Lois H. wife of Joseph Wheelock died Jan 23 1863 age 45 yrs 11 mths.
The ancestry of Charles Wheelock is not known. It is possible that he is the son of Samuel Wheelock and Frances Miller who lived in the Diocese of Ossory, Leinster Province, Ireland. The genealogy of Samuel and Frances has been documented on www.ancientfaces.com, without reference to sources. Unfortunately, Charles is not listed as a son of Samuel and Frances in this genealogy; instead, there is a gap in the birth record where he would have appeared. The following quote was taken from the family records of Scott Wheelock, a descendant of Charles Wheelock and Lydia Brown. The author of the quote is not given. Charles Wheelock was born four miles from Dublin in 1789 and came to this country (New York City) in 1810, at the age of 21 and was in business as a tallow chandler in New York City until 1839. He then moved to a farm in the town of Ulysses, Tompkins Co, NY, a few miles from Ithaca. This he named "Rosedale". He carried on the farm here many years. He mortgaged the property to raise money to assist his son, Charles M. Wheelock. The latter, who had consumption, was a stock broker in New York City. During or immediately after the Civil War Charles M. Wheelock failed and his father lost the farm and moved to Ithaca where both he and his wife died.
