Letter from Anna Wheelock-Niemela
The death of Mrs Aurilla Wheelock is announced on page 6 of the 12 Feb 1898 issue of the Centralia Enterprise and Tribune (Centralia, Wisconsin). It reads as follows: Janesville, Wis., Feb. 9 -- Mrs. Aurilla Wheelock, widow of R. U. Wheelock died yesterday morning, aged 92. She was the last of thirteen children. Her father, Warren Hull, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and she was the only surviving Daughter of the Revolution residing in this city. She resided only ten miles from Buffalo at the time of the capture and burning of that place in the war of 1812-15 and carried the news to the children of the school district. She leaves two children: Cyrus Wheelock of Milwaukee and Mrs. Comstock of this city.
