Marriage:
- "History of Door County Wisconsin, The County Beautiful", Vol II, published by The S. J. Clarke Publishing Co, 1917, Chicago; pg 121; online at books.google.com, retrieved Feb 2017.
Notes:
"History of Door County, Wisconsin, The County Beautiful", Vol II, pg 121 (online at books.google.com) makes reference to Maryette (Wheelock) St. Ores and her husband Lewis St. Ores, both natives of New York. The two later moved to California.
Maryette's parents are unknown. Lewis and Maryette supposedly lived in Lyme, NY before moving to Illinois, and later Wisconsin. In addition, there is some research to suggest that Lewis and Maryette are connected to the Salisbury family who came from Glocester, RI to Lyme, NY in the late 1700s.
These connections would suggest that Maryette is perhaps the daughter of Alpheus Wheelock and Rachel Armstrong. Another possibility is that she is the daughter of the William Wheelock, living in Lyme, Jefferson Co, NY, per 1820 Census. This William is probably the son of Levi Wheelock and Waitstill ____. Note that Maryette had a son named William Wheelock St. Ores, lending further credibility to the story.

Father: Lewis Wheelock
Mother: Eliza Palmer
Spouse: George H. Hedley
Marriage: about 1875
- 1900 U.S. census, Buffalo, Erie County, New York, household of George and Phoebe Hedley.
Notes:
In 1870, Phoebe Wheelock, 18, was living with her parents, in Concord, Erie County, New York.
By 1875 she had married George Hedly, and was living in Shelby, Orleans County, New York.
In 1880, Phebe Hedley was 27, living in Medina, Orleans County, with George Hedley, 32, born New York, and his mother, Mary Hedley, 68, born in Maine.
She is called Phoebe Hedley of Medina, New York in her fathers probate records, dated 1884.1
She was living in Buffalo in 1892, with her husband, and Bertha Hedley, her niece, daughter of Orange and Elmina (Wheelock) Pierce, both of whom had deceased by that date.
In 1900 Phoebe Hedley, 32, was living in Buffalo with her husband, George Hedley, 54, real estate dealer. They had been married for 25 years. No children. A boarder, Mary Degarmo, and a servant Lizze Lang, were living in the household.
In 1905 George H. and Phoebe W. Hedley were again in Buffalo. There were still there in 1910, when Gabriel Souli de Bas, 38, born in France, was rooming with them.
They had moved to California by 1914, when George H. and Mrs. Phoebe W. Hedley registered to vote in Los Angeles County.2 In 1920 George H. and Phoebe W. Hedley were living in Beveraly Hills. John G. Soulay, 45, born in France, was boarding with them.
Phoebe apparently went to France after her husband died, probably with John G. Soulay, their boarder in California.
She died in 1931 in France. John G. Soulay was responsible for disposing of her effects (per American consular record of her death), and for notifying nearest relatives, who are listed as: Miss Lucy Wheelock, niece, of Buffalo, New York, Mrs. Ida Albin, niece, of New York City, Mrs. Mary Brady, niece, of Friendship, New York, and Mrs. Marion Minard, grandniece, of Lockport, New York.3
