Marcus W. Waite, in his book "The Wheelock Family of Calais, Vt.", published by the Driftwind Press, Montpelier, Vt. in 1940, says the following about Wainy:
"She often visited her brother Welcome in Calais, and was well known to the older people of the town. The late Joshua Dana of Calais reported her as being the most beautiful woman he had every seen."
