Ruth must have died before 1770, when her husband remarried. In her father's will, dated 17 May 1776, she is listed as "late of Charlton deceased".

The children of Ruth (Abigail, Chapin, Rachel, and Joel) are taken from "History of Worcester and Its People" by Charles Nutt, A. B. Published 1919 by Lewis Historical Publishing Co. New York City. Other sources confirm the identity of their children. After their father's death in 1783, Edward Wheelock was appointed guardian of Joel, Chapin, and Abigail.
