Notes:

He was the son of Gen. John Spurr, a patriot in the Revolutionary War, and a participant in the "Boston Tea Party". He lived in Charlton his entire life, ran a store there, was proprietor of a hotel, and cultivated a farm. He was a major in the militia, justice of the peace, and a representative and state senator.¹

He made his will 31 May 1856, and it was allowed 6 Oct 1863. In it, he left bequests to his wife, Sarah F. D. Spurr; his children George Washington Spurr, William Henry Spurr, Sally Spurr, Emily Sanford wife of James M. Sanford, Sarah D. Spurr, and Kathleen Spurr. The petition, dated 10 Sep 1863, mentioned the same heirs, but referred to Sally as Sally Woodbury, wife of Dwight Woodbury, now of Charlton.²
