The Conway and Windsor Vital records show the birth of John Franklin Wheelock, s. George, laborer, and Hannah W. of Conway, 3 Dec 1848 in Conway. A guardianship was drawn up for John F. Wheelock in 1864, son of George Wheelock "late of Canada," and his widow, Hannah W. Wheelock.1

He is enumearted in the 1860 census living in Dexter Township, Washtenaw Co, Michigan, age 29, with Laura F. Wheelock, age 39, Orin Eaton, age 17, born in Massachusetts, Mary Wheelock, age 5, born in Michigan, Isabel Wheelock, age 3, born Michigan, and Russel Wheelock, age 1, born Michigan.
His obituary in the 19 Sep 1901 Chelsea Standard identifies four children: Mrs. Mary E. Spencer, Mrs. Belle I. Spencer, Miss Laura Guerin Wheelock, and Mr. Russell T. Wheelock.
