Notes:

In 1820 Harley Howe was living in Batavia, aged 16 to 25, with a woman, aged 16 to 25, and a girl under 10. He is enumerated next to Asa Howe and Jabez Howe in the census listing.

On 1 Sep 1826, Harley Howe of Genesee County, New York, deposited a certificate of the Register of the Land Office at Detroit, having fully paid for 78 1/2 acres of land offered for sale at the Detroit, Michigan Territory, consisting of the west half of the southwest quarter of section twenty seven, in township two south, of range six east.

He was in Batavia again in 1830, aged 20 to 30, with a woman 20 to 30, two females under 5, one 5 to 10, and one 10 to 15.

His wife, Betsey Howe, was enumerated as a head of household in the 1840 census living in Batavia - suggesting that Harley was deceased by that date.

Harley Howe was certainly decesed by 4 June 1853, when Betsey Howe, relict of Harley Howe, sold property in Batavia, her dower thirds, to Salmon B. Lusk.¹

There was a Harlow Howe living near Batavia, not to be confused with Harley Howe. Harlow's death notice appears in the 2 March 1889 edition of the Batavia newspaper Spirit of the Times, stating that he was "an old resident of this place [probably Pavilion, close to Batavia]," and died "Thursday evening last" at his home at the advanced age of 81 years. He left a wife, Mrs. Smead Howe, and two step-children La Mont Smead and Mrs. Harriet Wilkins.²

Notes:

Roxanna was the daughter of Benjamin Mayo and Dorothy Goddard. She married first George Wheelock, and second Daniel Frost.¹

Roxana W. Frost is enumerated in the 1850 census living in Orange, Massachusetts, age 53, born in Massachusetts, with Daniel Frost, age 63, born in Connecticut. William Mayo, age 55, Maria Corliss, age 10, born New York, Charles Prescott, age 25, born Massachussets, and D(?) Gale, age 25, born in Massachusetts are also in the household.

She died in Orange on 30 June 1855 of consumption and cancer. The death record identifies her parents as Benjamin and Dolly Mayo (MA 93:206).
