Thomas was a farmer, but opened his home as a tavern, which was kept as such for many years. He came to Alstead at the age of 21 years, then to Winchester in 1797. He is buried in the "Old Wheelock Homestead", in Winchester, NH. "Wheelock Genealogy", by Carlyle Capron Wheelock and Winifred Thomson Gonseth, 1955, gives the following children: Simeon, Thomas, Abigail, John, William, Prudence, Mary, James, Jefferson, and Sally. No mention is made of Phineas, which comes from the records of Su Wetzel, a descendant of Phineas Wheelock and Prudence Dodge. Su, however, makes no mention of Jefferson or James.
