"Joseph removed from Lancaster to Leominster about 1725, or the town boundaries of Leominster included his farm at that time, for Leominster was formerly part of Lancaster." (Source: "New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial", Cutter, NY, Lewis Historical Publishing Company, 1914. Copy available in Aldrich Public Library, Barre, Vt.)
Joseph Wheelock was a "chainman" in several surveys of land conducted in Ashburnham, MA, prior to its incorporation. He was one of the sixty original proprietors of this town, but never settled there permanently. He was apparently granted the land as payment for the service of his uncle, Timothy Wheelock. The "History of Ashburnham" shows him in the list of original proprietors as follows: "Joseph Wheelock of Lancaster in the Right of his Uncle Timothy Wheelock who served under Captain Anderson." (Source: "History of Ashburnham, MA from The Grant of Dorchester Canada to the Present Time, 1734-1886", by Ezra S. Stearns, published by the Town of Ashburnham, MA, 1887.)

The letter from Albert Wheelock, (William Harrison Wheelock, Sr's grandson), from which the information about William Harrison Wheelock, Jr was derived, states that William moved (probably from Marion, Kansas, where his father lived and operated a ranch) to Woodard, Oklahoma, where he also operated a ranch. and later died of typhoid fever.
