Notes:

A death notice for Catherine Wheelock was published in the 29 Mar 1828 Boston Columbian Centinel newspaper. It states that she "d. in Dorchester, Tues., aged 65 years." This probably refers to Catherine Baxter.

She is buried in the North Burial Ground in Dorchester. The 1903-1904 "Annual Report of the Cemetery Dept of Boston" identifies her inscription as follows. Note the discepancy with the death date give in the Columbian Centinel:

In memory of | Mrs. Catherine Wheelock, | who died Mar 25, 1827, | aged 65. | A woman respected by all who knew her.

Her daughter, Eleanor (Wheelock) Pray is buried in the same cemetery.

She is enumerated in the 1900 census living in Janesville, Wisconsin, with her son, Frank H. Wheelock. She was, widowed, born Mar 1836 in Massachusetts, "capitalist" by occupation.

Research Notes:

Martha Trott is enumerated in the 1850 census in Boston, age 14, in the household of Mrs. Trott, age 39, Charles W. Trott, age 9, Ire E. Isley, age 40, M. Bowker, age 40, B. F. Perry, age 39, and J. W. Perry, age 5.

Per Martha Trott's marriage record, her father was Edward Trott, probably the man who died intestate in Boston, 20 July 1842, explaining his lack of appearance in the 1850 census. His widow, Sally R. Trott was granted administration of the estate. (Suffolk Co probate, case 33343.) He is buried in Swansea, born 1805 per headstone. This matches the Swansea birth record for Edwart Trott, the son of James and Martha Trott.

There is a 27 Jan 1833 marriage record for Edward Trott, of Swansea, and Sally R. Tibbetts - the only matching record in Boston. Edward would have been 25, and Sally, as will be seen later, 24.

Sarah R. Trott, likely Edwards widow, age 43, married 1 Sep 1850 in Boston to Benjamin F. Perry, also a plasterer, age 41, born Hardwick, son of Ebenezer, second marriage for both. Per marriage record, she was born in Rochester, NY, no parents identified (MA 47:99). Note that her husband was probably the B. F. Perry living in "Mrs. Trott's" household in 1850.

Sarah R. Perry is enumerated in the 1855 state census, age 50, living with Benjamin F. Perry, plasterer, age 50, in Boston, with James R. Perry, age 11, and several others. Per this record, Sarah R. Perry was born in New Hampshire.

In 1870 Sarah Perry, age 60, born New Hampshire, was living in Janesville, Wisconsin, in the household of Wadsworth Grant and Martha A. Wheelock.

In 1880, Sarah [?] Perry, age 64 [or 74], mother-in-law, born Wisconsin (sic), was living in the household of Walter Wheelock (sic) with his wife Martha A. Wheelock, born Massachusetts, and children George, Arthur W., and Frank. W.

Sarah R. Perry died 22 Mar 1884, Rock Co, Wisconsin. Per death record, she was born 29 June 1806 in Rochester, NY (Wisconsin Death Records, FamilySearch.org).

She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Janesville, near her daughter, Martha, with a gravestone marked Grandma, dates 1806 - 1884 (FindAGrave memorial 143838717).

With these facts, it seems certain that Sarah R. Perry is Martha's mother, and that her maiden name was Tibbetts. Her birth place - either New Hampshire, or Rochester, New York, is less certain. It is possible that she was from Rochester, Strafford County, New Hampshire. There was a large population of Tibbets living there in 1810. Rochester, New York was not founded until 1817, after Sarah's birth. And, in 1810, there were only a few Tibbets living in towns near the future site of Rochester - Sodus, Canandaigua, and Geneva. Examining the Rochester, New Hampshire town records might reveal proof.

Martha Trott's obituary identifies a surviving brother, Charles A. Trott (consistent with the 1850 census), living in Joplin, Missouri. This is actually Charles Ware Trott, born 20 Aug 1841, died 16 Nov 1932, buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City, Missouri (FindAGrave memorial 57022217.) His death certificate does not identify his parents.
