Notes:

Chapin was born in Charlton, MA, and moved to Holland, NY in 1816 with his wife and children. He located on a farm there, on which he lived until his children reached maturity. He returned to Massachusetts on a visit in Jan. 1835, and died while there.¹

The following is found in the "History of the City of Buffalo and Erie County", Edited by H. Perry Smith, Syracus, NY, D. Mason and Co, Publishers, 1884, pg. 610 in the section entitled "History of Holland":

"On the 15th of April, 1818, a law was passed by the Legislature dividing the town of Willink into three new towns - Aurora, Wales, and Holland. ... The first town meeting was held the next spring (1819) when the following officers were elected: .... Richard Buffum, Jr., Amaziah Morey and Chapin Wheelock, commissioners of highways; ..."

Chapin's headstone in the Northside Cemetery in Charlton, MA, states that he was from Holland, NY, and has the following inscription:

We shall meet on that shore where no [shadow?] shall fade, Where sorrow and death shall no longer invade, Where the song of the blest shall be [...] employ, [...] may give place to the fullness of joy.

Paris and Diana Wheelock appear in the 1850 Federal Census in Painted Post, NY. Paris, age 54, born in Rhode Island (sic), and Diana, age 50, born in Rhode Island are living with Albert H. Wheelock, age 10, and Anna Wheelock, age 7, both born in NY.
